Announcement: THE HELIOS SYNDROME is available for preorder!
If you like freelance necromancy and air crash investigation, this novella is for you
I am beyond thrilled to be able to give you this link. HELIOS is a project I’ve been working on for a very long time; it developed from a short story that came out in PseudoPod back in 2019, “Black Matter”. In that story, our hero Devin Stacy first encounters the gruesome ghost of Captain Warner, pilot of the downed plane he’s investigating. In THE HELIOS SYNDROME, we find out what exactly that chance meeting has set into motion.
(Anne M. Pillsworth and Ruthanna Emrys featured “Black Matter” in a fantastic “Reading the Weird” column on Tor.com.)
Stacy is what the NTSB calls a contingency communications specialist, because “freelance necromancer” just doesn’t have that bureaucratic ring to it. He’s the one they call when none of the data are adding up, when the black boxes divulge no secrets, when the wreckage refuses to yield answers: the last resort. Pack up your crystal ball and shag ass, Stacy, we got one, and most of the time it’s two a.m. when the call comes in. But when a plane goes missing under impossible circumstances, even Stacy’s storied crystal ball isn’t up to the task of tracking it, and he finds himself having to take matters into his own hands — with assistance from a part-time witch and Chief Investigator Wayne Dooley — to get the wheels safely on the ground.
(Your regularly scheduled Frankenstein recap will be released on Friday as usual.)
I can't wait! Will there be an ebook edition?
